The ARTICA trial

Acute Rule out of non ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome in the (pre)hospital setting by HEART score assessment and a single poInt of CAre troponin

The ARTICA trial is a randomized trial in the prehospital setting.
Low-risk patients (modified HEAR(T) score ≤3) suspected of a non ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome are identified by ambulance paramedics and 1:1 randomized:
A: Evaluation in the emergency department (current practice)
B: Point-of-care troponin T measurement and in case of a low value (<40 ng/L, the lower limit of measuring range) transfer of the care to the general practitioner
